Terms of use

Purpose

meeshto is a social network and marketplace published by the company Meeshto (see the publisher information at the bottom of this page). It connects people around what they show, offer and look for: goods, services, donations, loans, rentals, swaps, transport, accommodation, activities.

By creating an account or using the service, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

Your account

You must be at least 15 years old. A minor may only buy or sell with their parents' consent, within the limits set by law. You are responsible for the accuracy of your profile and for keeping your password confidential. An account is personal: do not share it.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete my account, or online at meeshto.com/delete-account. Deletion is immediate and permanent.

Prohibited content — zero tolerance

We accept no abusive content or behaviour. In particular, the following are prohibited:

  • harassment, threats, hateful or discriminatory speech;
  • nudity, sexual content and violent content;
  • scams, fraud and fake listings;
  • the sale of illegal or regulated products: weapons, drugs, medicines, protected species, official documents, personal data;
  • counterfeits and copyright infringement;
  • spam and unsolicited advertising;
  • impersonation;
  • any content that is illegal in the country where it is published or viewed.

You remain the owner of what you publish, and you grant us, for as long as it is published, the free and worldwide right to display it within the service. You warrant that you hold the necessary rights to the photos, videos and texts you upload.

Reporting, blocking and moderation

A listing, a post, a profile or a live comment can be reported from the Report button in its menu; for a story, a message or a comment, report its author from their profile. Any member can block another from their profile: a blocked account no longer sees your content and you no longer see theirs.

You can also, without an account, report content you believe to be illegal by writing to contact@meeshto.com. Include the link to the content, the precise reasons why you believe it is illegal, your name and email address, and a statement that you are reporting it in good faith.

Every public listing is also read by an automated tool, built on Google's artificial intelligence (Gemini): it spots what looks like a scam — payment requested outside Meeshto, contact offered elsewhere, a counterfeit or prohibited item — and places it in the review queue. It never removes or sanctions anything on its own: it reports, as a member would, and a person decides.

We review reports within 24 hours. Every decision is made by a person, after review. Content that breaks the law or these terms is removed; the account responsible may be warned, suspended or deleted, without notice for serious or repeated breaches — as may an account that repeatedly files manifestly unfounded reports.

When we remove your content or suspend your account, we tell you by email, stating the reason, the facts involved and the rule applied. You can challenge the decision by replying to that message or by writing to contact@meeshto.com: it is reviewed again, and reversed if it was not justified. You also keep the right to go to court.

Content suggesting a threat to anyone's life or safety is reported to the competent authorities without delay.

Private individuals and professionals

Every listing shows whether its author is a private individual or a professional. Professional status is granted to a company whose account Stripe has verified, or to a sole trader whose SIRET number meeshto has verified.

If you sell or rent in a professional capacity — regularly and to earn an income — you must obtain this status from your payment settings, and meet your consumer-law obligations towards your buyers.

When you buy from a private individual, consumer law does not apply to the sale: there is no right of withdrawal and no legal guarantee of conformity. The purchase protection described below does apply. When you buy from a professional, you also benefit from your consumer rights — in particular the 14-day right of withdrawal where the law provides for it and the legal guarantee of conformity —, which you exercise with the seller.

Payment and fees

meeshto is not the seller: the contract of sale or service is made between members. meeshto provides secure in-app payment and purchase protection. Payments are processed by Stripe; your card number is entered with Stripe and never passes through meeshto.

The buyer pays a protection fee of 5% + €0.50 of the price, shown before payment. The seller pays no commission and receives the price they set.

On purchase, the amount is first held on your card (an authorisation). The seller has 48 hours to confirm the item is available: their confirmation captures the payment; their refusal or silence releases the hold, and nothing is charged. Only an in-stock item from a professional shop is charged at once.

Before this confirmation, the buyer can cancel on their own. Afterwards, they can ask for cancellation once; if the seller does not answer within 48 hours, the request is accepted. An order that is cancelled or refunded in full is refunded of everything the buyer paid: price, shipping and protection fee.

One exception: the refused parcel. A parcel the buyer refuses on delivery, or does not collect from the pickup point, goes back to the seller. Once the carrier confirms that return, the order is cancelled and the buyer is refunded the item price; shipping and the protection fee are not returned. Bought from a professional, the buyer is refunded everything they paid, as consumer law requires; the shipping cost is then withheld from the professional's next sales. A parcel returned without the buyer refusing it is refunded in full.

To be paid for your sales, you link a Stripe account and accept the Stripe Connected Account Agreement, which includes the Stripe Services Agreement. Stripe verifies your identity and bank details.

The protection fee pays for meeshto's service: secure payment, holding the money until delivery, and handling disputes. By paying, you ask for this service to start at once; under article L221-28 of the French consumer code, the right of withdrawal no longer applies to it once the sale is complete. Until then, a cancelled order refunds this fee along with the rest, except for the refused parcel described above.

Beware of any request to pay outside the app: it deprives you of purchase protection.

How a purchase works

From a listing, the buy button opens a summary: price, protection fee, chosen delivery and total. You can change anything there, or close it without paying. Payment then takes place on Stripe's secure page; the order is concluded once it is accepted, and you receive its confirmation by email.

The order, its tracking and its receipt remain available at any time in the app, and are kept for ten years. The contract is concluded in French or in English, depending on the app's language.

Purchase protection, cancellations and refunds

When you pay for an item in the app, your money stays with meeshto until delivery. For a parcel, you then have 3 days from the delivery recorded by the carrier to confirm that everything is fine or to report a problem: item not received, not as described, different from the one ordered, damaged, incomplete, counterfeit or suspicious.

Without a report within that time, the sale is considered complete and the seller is paid. A report holds the payment and opens seven days to find a solution with the seller: a partial refund, returning the item, or keeping the sale. Failing an agreement, meeshto reviews the case and decides what happens next. When a return is decided, you are refunded everything you paid as soon as the item is back with the seller.

This protection comes on top of your legal rights and does not replace them. When you buy from a professional, you keep in particular the right of withdrawal and the legal guarantee of conformity provided by consumer law.

How content is ranked

Listings are ranked first by distance, then by relevance to you: your interests, the accounts you follow, your favourites, the words of your search, how recent the listing is, the interest it draws (likes, comments, views) and whether the seller is verified; what you have already seen moves down, and a share of discovery varies the order. You can also sort by date or by price.

No placement can be bought: no member pays to be ranked higher, and meeshto holds no stake in any seller. Content is only removed from the ranking if it breaks the law or these terms.

Reviews

Only the buyer and the seller of a delivered sale can review each other, once each. They write without reading the other's review: both appear together, or fourteen days after delivery. A published review can no longer be edited; the person it concerns may reply publicly.

Reviews are shown from newest to oldest. None is paid for or sorted by rating. A review can be reported; one that breaks the law or these terms is hidden by moderation, and then no longer counts towards the rating.

Your tax and social obligations

The money you receive by selling, renting or providing services on meeshto may be taxable and subject to social contributions. You alone are responsible for declaring it. In France, see impots.gouv.fr and urssaf.fr; elsewhere, your country's tax authority.

The law (article 1649 ter A of the French tax code, EU directive known as "DAC7") requires meeshto to report its sellers to the tax authorities each year, with their identity, tax number and the amounts received: from the first sale for accommodation, a service or a vehicle rental; for the sale of goods, from 30 sales or more than €2,000 in the year. Your tax number is requested in the app — a little before the threshold for goods —, and if you are reported, a copy of what concerns you is sent to you. If you have never been given a tax number, you can give your city of birth by declaring so; you will be asked again each year. If there is no reply after two reminders, once the threshold is reached and no earlier than sixty days after the request, the law (article 1649 ter D) requires us to close your seller account: your listings are paused and you cannot sell until you provide it. What you have already sold is paid out as usual, and everything resumes as soon as the number is given.

AI assistant

The assistant is optional. It turns a description ("a cheap kid's bike") into search filters, and can prefill a listing from a sentence or your photos. Its suggestions are generated automatically: they may be inaccurate or incomplete. You alone remain responsible for the content you publish, including when you accept a suggestion as it is: check in particular the item's condition, the price and any regulated statement.

Its use is limited per day and per member, in the same way for everyone. It refuses requests aimed at prohibited content; repeated requests of this kind may be reviewed by moderation. What is sent to it, and to whom, is described in our privacy policy.

Intellectual property

The meeshto name, its logo, its app and its website belong to Meeshto. They may not be reproduced or reused without its written consent.

Availability and liability

We strive to keep the service available but cannot guarantee it: maintenance, technical incidents or reliance on a provider may interrupt it.

meeshto is not a party to sales and services agreed between members, and is not liable for the content they publish, subject to its obligations as a host and to purchase protection. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, for personal injury, or where the law forbids it.

Personal data

How we process your data is described in our privacy policy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is significant, you will be informed in the app before it takes effect; continuing to use the service then means you accept it. You can delete your account at any time.

Contact us

For any question, complaint or request, including from authorities, write to contact@meeshto.com: it is our single point of contact within the meaning of the EU Digital Services Act. We answer in French and in English.

Consumer mediation

If a dispute arises, write to us first at contact@meeshto.com: we always look for an amicable solution.

In accordance with articles L612-1 et seq. of the French consumer code, if a dispute remains unresolved after a written complaint to meeshto, the consumer may turn, free of charge, to the following consumer mediator: Centre de la Médiation de la Consommation de Conciliateurs de Justice (CM2C), 49 rue de Ponthieu, 75008 Paris, France. Phone: +33 1 89 47 00 14. Website: www.cm2c.net.

The mediator must be contacted within one year of the written complaint sent to the business. Mediation covers meeshto's own services; a dispute between members is settled through the purchase protection described above.

Governing law

These terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection granted to you by the mandatory rules of your country. Failing an agreement, disputes fall under the French courts; a consumer keeps the right to bring a case before the courts of their place of residence, under article R631-3 of the French consumer code and EU rules.

The service is operated from France. If you use it from another country, you are responsible for complying with local law, in particular for what you sell or buy. In-app payment is made in euros.

Language

These terms exist in French and in English. In case of discrepancy, the French version prevails, unless the law of your country provides otherwise.
